Hey everyone,
New build just shipped with 7 fixes targeting the "tracking stopped working" reports we've been getting. Open Play
Store, find GigLedger, tap Update (give it a few minutes if it doesn't show right away — Play Store rolls updates out
gradually).
What's new in v1.0.6:
• Auto-tracking now properly walks you through every permission it needs (no more silent failures where the toggle
says "on" but nothing's actually running)
• If your phone interrupts a trip mid-drive (battery saver, swipe from recents, etc.), the miles are now
automatically recovered when you reopen the app — no more lost trips
• A persistent car icon now appears in your status bar whenever GigLedger is monitoring, so you can tell at a glance
whether it's working
• Manual Start Trip is more resilient to being killed in the background
Samsung users — please read this carefully 🙏
Samsung's battery manager (One UI) aggressively kills tracking apps by default, even legitimate ones. Even with the
v1.0.6 fixes, you'll likely need to flip these 7 settings before tracking works reliably. Takes about 2 minutes:
1. Settings → Apps → GigLedger → Battery → tap "Unrestricted"
2. Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → "Never sleeping apps" → tap + → add GigLedger
3. Same screen — make sure GigLedger is NOT in "Sleeping apps" or "Deep sleeping apps"
4. Settings → Apps → GigLedger → Permissions → Location → "Allow all the time" (not "While using the app")
5. Settings → Apps → GigLedger → Permissions → Physical activity → "Allow"
6. Settings → Apps → GigLedger → Notifications → "On"
7. Settings → Device care → Auto-optimization → toggle off
After all 7 are done, swipe GigLedger out of recents and reopen it.
What I need from you:
1. Update to v1.0.6
2. (Samsung only) flip the 7 settings above
3. Try a trip — either tap Start Trip manually, or just drive somewhere with auto-tracking on
4. Reply here or DM me at
gigledg...@gmail.com if anything still misbehaves — especially if the car icon
disappears from your status bar mid-drive (that means the OS killed the service despite the settings)
Thanks again for sticking with this. Android tracking is genuinely the hardest part of the app to get right — every
Samsung phone behaves a little differently — and your feedback is what's making it work.
