There were a couple of questions regarding rules yesterday. Since next week is the playoffs, everyone should review the rules that the league has established. Gene sent them out earlier this year. A couple of highlights..
If your tee shot goes OB or if you think it may be, you should hit a provisional ball. If you find the original ball and it is in bounds you may play it. Otherwise play the provisional with a 1-stroke penalty.
( there is currently no rule that says go to the point of OB, drop, and take a 2 stroke penalty).
If you hit your ball into a penalty area (red or yellow stakes), you may play the ball as it lies within the penalty area without taking a stroke. However, if you move the ball from the penalty area, you must take a 1 stroke penalty.
As everyone knows by now, the greens are not in the best of condition. That being said, my opinion is that everyone must play the ball as it lies on the green regardless of the condition. There should be no adjusting the ball on the green to improve the lie. (We are all playing on the same greens and unfortunate breaks are a part of golf).
All other rules should be applied. If you have any questions regarding rules, please make them heard before we tee off next week.
