Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities, in its pursuit of Experiential Liberal Arts, is actively seeking candidates for an open-rank tenure-line position as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor with a potential joint appointment in the College of Science. The ideal candidates will specialize at the intersection of biodiversity and society, emphasizing the social dimensions of biological conservation or extinction. We invite applications from various academic backgrounds, including sociology, science and technology studies, conservation social science, philosophy, Indigenous studies, planning, policy, sustainability science, environmental social science, environmental communication, and social-ecological systems.
Successful applicants will possess interdisciplinary expertise, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, a strong record in teaching and research, and a dedication to collaborative, experiential learning. These faculty members will contribute to independent research, collaborate across disciplines, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, and engage in service at the department, university, and discipline levels. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in relevant fields, evidence of interdisciplinary capacity, a commitment to diversity and equity, and a demonstrated record of impactful research and innovation.
