------------------------------
I am happy to announce that the call for proposals is now open for the 18th Biennial Conference on Communication and Environment (COCE 2025), themed
“Environment and Communication: Shifting Perspectives, Creativity, and Conviviality from the Edge.” COCE will be held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere (Tasmania, Australia) from 23-27 June 2025. COCE 2025 will be a hybrid conference, with
in-person and virtual participation options available.
The International
Environmental Communication Association (IECA) and the
University
of Tasmania’s School of Creative Arts and Media are collaborating to deliver a conference that will blend traditional and innovative formats. We invite scholars, artists, practitioners, and activists to submit proposals
in a variety of formats, including research papers, practice reflections, artworks, panels, workshops, and unique participant-suggested ideas. We encourage proposals that explore shifting perspectives on environmental communication and emphasize creativity
and conviviality. Attendees who do not present are also warmly welcomed.
Important Dates:
COCE 2025 will take place in the culturally and environmentally significant city of Hobart, Tasmania. In addition to panels, roundtables, workshops, performances, and innovative format sessions, the conference will include a range
of in-person events such as a graduate student and early career pre-conference workshop/camp, a post-conference Deep Ecology retreat with
John
Seed, and hosted experiential excursions in the city and bush. Virtual attendees will also have access to engaging discussions, networking opportunities, and interactive sessions via the online conference platform,
FourWaves.
Thank you for your interest in COCE 2025.
