Dear GEPed Colleagues:
I have the honor of being the Environmental Studies Section Program Chair for the 2022 ISA convention. This is a gentle reminder that the ISA-ESS paper/panel proposal submission deadline is approaching with the speed of a bullet train (June 1).
Below you will find some of the links for different types of submissions, but if you’d like additional clarifications, please feel free to email me at (Prakash...@uconn.edu). I also welcome suggestions, inputs, and guidance any of you may have for further improving the already high programming benchmarks that have been set by my predecessors.
I hope we agree that there is a strong consensus within our community to avoid manels (men only panels) at all cost. Plus, an emerging thinking on trying to avoid whanels (white only panels) to the extent possible. My hope was that ISA would continue with the option of virtual access to the convention, but that does not seem to be the case. Instead, we have a well-intentioned plan to meet in person, with TBD plans for allowing virtual access on a limited basis. That makes the goal of fostering diversity and inclusion a bit more challenging, but let’s continue to work as best as we can.
