Dear all,

this is an invitation to submit abstracts to the panels for the EISA PEC in Lille, France 27-31 August 2024. The panels are part of the section “Spaces of Sustainabilities, Struggles of Transitions in the (European) Arctic and Beyond” led by Monica Tennberg (University of Lapland) and Özlem Terzi (VU Amsterdam).  The section will explore the politically complex, ethically controversial, contingent processes of sustainable development, green transition, and geopolitical rivalry as well as investigate the multiple dimensions in these processes in the (European) Arctic and beyond.

The panels:

1. Law, Ethics and Politics of European environmental governance: Marlene Payva Almonte, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland; Tanja Aalberts, VU Amsterdam; Page Louise Wilson, University of Iceland

2. Green Transitions in the European Arctic and Beyond: Özlem Terzi and Gareth Davies, VU Amsterdam

3. Geopolitics, Securitisation and Militarization of the Environment: Vesa Väätänen and Sanna Kopra, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland

4. Post-Human IR Approaches to Sustainability Transitions: Monica Tennberg and Sanna Kopra, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland

5. Affective Politics of Natural Resource Governance: Özlem Terzi, VU Amsterdam; Marjo Lindroth, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland

This section is organized by the UArctic Thematic Network on Critical Arctic Studies:https://criticalarcticstudies.com/

It foresees papers by established scholars and early career researchers as well as by PhD candidates. The deadline for abstracts is 13 March. More information: https://eisa-net.org/
