Dear Colleagues,

Profs. Frank Matose (University of Cape Town), Lotsmart Fonjong (University of Cincinnati), and I are pleased to announce the publication of our jointly edited Special Issue on "Conservation, Natural Resources, and Equitable Outcomes in Africa," in Society & Natural Resources 38 (4, April):

Special Issue: Conservation, Natural Resources, and Equitable Outcomes in Africa. Volume 38, Issue 4 of Society & Natural Resources

  • Matose, Frank; Lotsmart Fonjong; and David A. Sonnenfeld,
"Protecting and Benefitting from Nature: Insights and Policy Dilemmas from Africa"

  • Herdieckerhoff, Ida; Irmeli Mustalahti; Almeida Sitoe; and Estevao E. Chambule,

This is the second of two special issues published from papers presented at the virtual symposium, "Weathering Extremes: African Environmental Politics in a Destabilized World," in May 2021. That symposium was sponsored by the Research Committee on Environment and Society (RC 24) of the International Sociological Association; and hosted by the Program of Advanced Research on Conflict and Collaboration (PARCC), at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University.

Kind regards,
David S.
