Science-Policy Interfaces: From Warnings to Solutions

How are scientists supposed to convey timely warnings and inform policymaking? Since 1972, a variety of formal mechanisms called science-policy interfaces (SPIs) have been set up in global environmental governance to identify risks and propose solutions. As countries debate possible new stand-alone SPIs—one on food systems and another on chemicals and wastes—we review the lessons learned.

The latest Still Only One Earth policy brief explores what we can learn from 50 years of bridging the gap between science and policy on global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution and more.
