Hi everyone: Here is the last policy brief of 2021 -- we will continue publishing eight more briefs in the lead up to the 50th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference in 2022.

Despite the strong statement by legendary ocean explorer Sylvia Earle, people continue to take an "out of sight, out of mind" attitude with dumping dredge material, industrial waste, and toxins into our shared waters.

While 50 years of efforts have regulated some specific wastes, our latest policy brief examines countries' problematic, piecemeal adherence to the rules as well as emerging issues, such as ideas to boost the ocean's ability to absorb carbon.
