Happy New Year everyone:

Here is our first policy brief of 2022. We will continue to publish about 2 per month until June 2022 and the 50th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference. Here is the full set so far: https://www.iisd.org/projects/still-only-one-earth-lessons-50-years-un-sustainable-development-policy

Next up will be Science-Policy Interfaces by Pia Kohler.

Best,
Pam

Land degradation

From Land Degradation to Land Restoration

Creating an enabling environment for land degradation neutrality—an approach that counterbalances the expected loss of productive land with the recovery of degraded areas—can help ensure food security, energy needs, land tenure, gender equality, access to clean water, and biodiversity are considered and addressed together.

The latest Still Only One Earth policy brief explores the value of the soil beneath our feet, the estimated 24 billion tons of fertile soil lost each year (largely due to unsustainable agricultural practices), and what we can do about it.
