This series is organized by myself, Alison Bates (Colby College), Joshua Stoll (University of Maine), Theresa Burnham (University of Maine) and Caitlin Cleaver (Bates College). Join us on September 2, between Noon and 1 pm (EDT) for our first in a series of webinars titled: Wind of Change: Off-Shore Energy Production and the Social Sciences.

About this event

Winds of Change: Off-shore Energy Production and the Social Sciences will bring together leading researchers to discuss and identify key social science perspectives on this energy transition.

Designed primarily for an academic audience, each webinar will be led by two speakers, who will talk for about 15 minutes each, after which we open the floor for questions and comments.

Registration is required, and the Zoom link for the event will be included in the acknowledgement of your registration.

Our first two speakers will be:

Claire Haggett, Senior Lecturer at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Title: “Identifying and engaging communities and fishers in the development of offshore renewables.”

Leslie Mabon, Lecturer in Environmental Systems at the School of Engineering and Innovation, The Open University, United Kingdom.

Title: “How can offshore wind support just and resilient coastal communities? Insights from Scotland and Taiwan.”
