Best environmental alternative to Twitter

I just taught a grad class on social media last week. Here’s a quick summary of my class! I’m sure others will have other thoughts based on their experiences.
Twitter – easy to engage the broader public, but also lots of space for trolls. Good for engaging in conversations and debates. And it is easy to share content made by others. Works well with images, text and links.
Instagram – skews to a much younger demographic. Instagram is really about original content – sharing of posts is not a thing (although you can with the story feature), and you can’t post clickable links in posts. So it is great for sharing content more intended for passive scrolling. Comments are possible, but in terms of engagement, there is much less compared to other social media.
Facebook – very hard now to develop a Facebook page from scratch and get lots of followers unless you already have a known audience. But, Facebook groups are very active and a great way to find people who are interested in similar issues. Very easy to share images, text and links.
LinkedIn – easy to write and share posts, the expectation of the site though is professional content. Not a lot of engagement and debate or resharing of posts.
Snapchat – younger and much more about person to person communication.
