Subject: Immigration Enforcement and the Safety of the UMass Boston Community

Dear Member,

With the start of the new Trump administration, officers enforcing immigration laws will now be able to enter and make arrests at schools, churches, and hospitals. The safety of all community members – students, faculty, librarians and staff—is paramount.  We are committed to making sure our classrooms and campus spaces remain places of gathering and engagement where all are welcomed and feel safe.

Our parent union, NEA, has provided some initial resources. FSU has asked administration to clarify the university’s position and instructions in the event that ICE officers enter our campus for the purpose of detaining members of our community. We will keep you apprised of any additional information we receive. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns or questions.

Sincerely,
