Dear all,

We are excited to announce the publication of an open access systematic review of transformation-related concepts in the social science literature on climate change mitigation. This review is part of the research program at the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations.

Moore, B., Verfuerth, C., Minas, A.M., Tipping, C., Mander, S., Lorenzoni, I., Hoolohan, C., Jordan, A.J. & L. Whitmarsh (2021). Transformations for climate change mitigation: A systematic review of terminology, concepts, and characteristicsWiley Interdisciplinary Reviews: Climate Change, 12(6), 1–25. https://doi.org/10.1002/wcc.738

The article sheds light on the “transformative turn” in the climate mitigation literature, mapping existing research and its geographical and sectoral focus, the methods and theories employed, the use of transformation-related terminology, and the triggers, drivers, and barriers to transformation.

We have also summarized our key findings in a blog post and a Twitter thread.

Best wishes,

Brendan Moore
