The Department of Political Science at Lund University (Sweden) is advertising for a postdoctoral scholar with a focus on the governance of climate investment. The
position is within the interdisciplinary project “Financing industrial decarbonisation: Managing risks and uncertainties to promote green investments in energy intensive industry”.
The project focuses on how
risk and uncertainty affect financial markets’ willingness to invest in decarbonisation in the energy-intensive and natural resource-based industries. The research undertaken at the Department
of Political Science within the project focuses on political risks and uncertainties regarding climate investments and how policymakers perceive and address these risks through international and national (Swedish) governance arrangements. The project involves
myself and Roger Hildingsson at the Department of Political Science, as well as scholars from other departments at Lund University, and is led by Fredrik N.G. Andersson from the Department of Economics.
The postdoctoral researcher is expected to conduct 80 % research and 20 % teaching for a duration of two years,
the research focusing on collecting and analysing data regarding the governance arrangements addressing climate investments, and studying how policymakers address the risks associated with financing such investments. A PhD degree in political science
or similar disciplines on a topic relevant to the project is a requirement. Experience with studying environmental governance arrangements, good methodological skills (qualitative and possibly also
quantitative), familiarity with political economy as well as ability to conduct research independently and in collaboration are considered important merits. Please consult the call for further details.
The deadline for submitting an application is 12 March, and the successful candidate is expected to start 1 August 2021. Lund University offers a vibrant environment for
studying environmental politics. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences and regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.
