I’m happy to announce that Dr. Jesse Reynolds the Executive Secretary of the recently created Climate Overshoot Commission will be our special guest at the HPAC meeting Thursday, Sept 8th at 12:00 PM Central Time.

Note the 12:00 PM Central Time starting time for this meeting only. Please use the Zoom link below as our regular link will not work for this meeting. 

Please circulate this invitation to your colleagues. 

We will have an opportunity to hear from Dr. Reynolds followed by Q&A and discussion.

The independent Climate Overshoot Commission comprises very senior officials from 13 countries including four former Heads of State. Its mission isto consider the risks of exceeding the 1.5° C Paris goal and to recommend a strategy to reduce those risks. A final report is expected by COP 28 near the end of 2023.

Jesse Reynolds, PhD

Dr. Reynolds has worked at the intersection of environment, technology, and policy for more than two decades. He is the author of The Governance of Solar Geoengineering: Managing Climate Change in the Anthropocene (Cambridge University Press). Prior to his position at the Climate Overshoot Commission, Dr. Reynolds was an Emmett / Frankel Fellow in Environmental Law and Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. He has degrees from Tilburg University, The Netherlands; the University of California, Berkeley; and Hampshire College.

Many of us who work with or in cooperation with Methane Action (methaneaction.org) would very much like to join you but have a standing international zoom meeting for what I think is that time (11 a.m., Eastern Time, U.S.) 

In any case I write to make sure you are all aware of the peer reviewed papers and experiments of the past several years discussed on our website, in our testimony and other postings, showing the progress being made toward methane removal at scale as well as near sources.
