Post Summary
The School of Engineering seeks to make the a 4-year, full-time fixed term appointment of a Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Assistant Professor in Engineering in Climate Action, to complement the existing staff in the areas of Environmental Engineering and Climate Action, and to help to deliver a new postgraduate programme in Engineering for Climate Action in the School of Engineering.
The focus area for this appointment is in the area of climate action. Applicants should have a strong research background in related areas such as environmental engineering, ecological design and life cycle engineering supporting a technological and infrastructural transition to a low-carbon and circular economy. The candidates' specialism should be complementary to existing strengths of academic staff in the School. Particularly of interest is how their research background integrates with the Environmental Engineering research group's existing strengths in areas such as designing sustainable engineering systems for the management and mitigation of water and air pollution. The research activities of the Environmental Engineering group are inherently multi-disciplinary in nature, often involving large collaborative projects. The new position in Engineering in Climate Action will complement this research which sits centrally within Trinity’s E3 strategic initiative - a new university institute for integrated research and education in Engineering, Energy and Environment – and the College’s research mission around Smart and Sustainable Planet and International Development.

Appointment will be made on Assistant Professor (Lecturer) scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy €35,509 - €86,247 appointment will be made no higher than point [8] €50,410
