Subject: [Geo_Consortium] AMS 2022 session relevant to GMRC
To: <geo_con...@cgd.ucar.edu>

We’d like to bring to your attention this session at the AMS Annual meeting in Jan 23-27 2022 (Houston + virtual) that is relevant to the GMRC.

Please consider submitting to this AMS session, the abstract deadline is Sept 1, 2021.

Stratospheric Aerosol Climate Intervention and Natural Analogues (Joint between the 23rd Conference on Planned and Inadvertent Weather Modification, the 35th Conference on Climate Variability and Change, and the 21st Conference on Middle Atmosphere)

Abstract Submission page: https://ams.confex.com/ams/102ANNUAL/oasys.epl

Stratospheric Aerosol Intervention (SAI) has been proposed to counter some of the warming from increasing greenhouse gases by enhancing the aerosol burden in the stratosphere. This approach is expected to impact stratospheric chemistry and transport in various ways. Natural analogues for SAI are large volcanic eruptions as well as PyroCb events that both inject aerosols and precursors into the stratosphere. This session invites contributions (modelling, observations, and lab studies) related to stratospheric aerosol interventions and their natural analogues.

Thanks,

Simone Tilmes and Karen Rosenlof
