GC33G - Solar Geoengineering Benefits and Risks: Modeling, Impacts, Analogues, Engineering, Ethics, and Governance II Posters
With continued unabated increase of greenhouse gas emissions, it is
increasingly unlikely that climate change can be limited to prevent
significant impacts on society and the ecosystem. Therefore, interest in
potential geoengineering schemes is increasing, including solar
radiation management (SRM) methods. In this session, we invite abstracts
that analyze benefits and side effects of different SRM approaches from
global to local scales. We encourage studies that explore results from
the Geoengineering Model Intercomparison Project, the Geoengineering
Large Ensemble project, in particular abstracts from underrepresented
groups and developing countries, including studies by the Developing
Country Impacts Modelling Analysis for SRM (DECIMALS) project. We
further invite studies of analogs such as volcanic eruptions and ship
tracks, presentations on process scale models, including effects on
agriculture, ecosystems and the economy; development of technology; and
governance and ethical aspects of SRM applications.
