As part of its climate awareness campaign, the Healthy Climate Initiative (HCI) is launching a series of webinars titled “Technology Interventions for Climate Change.” This series will address the escalating climate crisis in India, highlighting the crucial role of advanced technological interventions in preventing severe outcomes. Each session is designed to present solutions that can help cool the planet and inspire government action for research, development, and policy implementation to prepare these technologies for deployment.
Our First Session: Climate Crisis and the Need for Technology Interventions
Speaker: Mr. Rituraj Phukan
Mr. Phukan will deliver an insightful exploration of the current climate emergency in India, making the case for immediate climate interventions. He will discuss their potential benefits and risks, current research, policy implications, and future outlook. Having recently attended COP 29 in Baku, he will also provide updates on climate intervention activities and the outlook within UNFCCC.
About the Speaker:
Rituraj Phukan is an environmental writer, adventurer, and climate change mentor based in Assam, India. He has embarked on multiple expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic for firsthand experiences of climate change impacts. Personally trained as a Climate Reality Leader by Al Gore, he was featured in the former US Vice President’s 2017 book “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.” As an HCI officer, he manages the climate awareness campaign and oversees national and international collaborations. He also serves as the National Coordinator for Biodiversity at The Climate Reality Project India.
