Postdoctoral Associate in Modeling the Agricultural Response to
Climate Intervention. The Department of Environmental
Sciences of Rutgers University invites applicants for the position
of Postdoctoral Associate. This is a grant-funded,
non-tenure-earning position carrying full benefits. The successful
candidate will join a research group investigating the impacts on
climate and agriculture in response to various proposed solar
climate intervention schemes, also known as solar radiation
modification (SRM). The successful candidate will have primary
responsibility, in collaboration with other researchers at Rutgers
and the National Center for Atmospheric Research, for adding the
impacts of diffuse radiation, ultraviolet radiation, and ozone on
vegetation, including crops, and for improving the parameterization
of fires in CESM2, and then conducting general circulation model
simulations with it in response to different SRM schemes, in the
context of the Geoengineering Model Intercomparison Project. The
candidate will also have time to conduct independent research.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in climate science, agricultural
modeling, or a related field, and a demonstrated background in
climate modeling and agricultural modeling. Applications will be
favored that demonstrate experience with CLM, CESM2, the National
Center for Atmospheric Research computing environment, the analysis
of computer simulations of climate change in response to climate
intervention, and comparisons of crop model responses to climate
change.
