Sometimes, here in flyover country, we don't have onsite communications, so in old game and even now, we sometimes need to file after leaving DP proximity. I still use an old handheld Garmin so I have the closet location recorded there and thus can enter that data later (the old version, we just entered distance, honor system, but that was more in the day of handheld GPS which usually did distance and bearing, unlike phones).
Anyway, I filed a report that way, upon getting back home, with no problem on a computer (Windows, Chrome browser), but deedeedash tried to log a find on her iPhone. The field for longitude pops up a numeric only keypad (possibly an Apple issue, but I'm assuming possibly the field type in the report page might trigger that). Anyway, needless to say here in Western hemisphere entering the - makes -96xxxx close enough, but number only is western China. With computer keyboard I had no trouble entering -, but iPhone keyboard had only digits.
I realize the expected method of supplying long/lat is the GPS sync (yes, convenient, works fine) but the pure data entry to the long/lat fields might be needed (if GTs ever join in, they'll need - on lats).
So perhaps a small tweak to report page would trigger a more helpful popup keyboard on phones.
And I assume, since there is no way to enter datetime, it is critical to report on the correct calendar day, which is almost always possible (unlike old days, where there was a 3, maybe 5 day, grace period, pre-smartphone).
