Hello Geo4Lib community!

At our monthly community meeting this week, we started discussing plans for sprints in 2026.

There was a lot of interest in holding a Geo4Lib Community Sprint this summer to coordinate a range of activities that reflect the wide interests of community members. This would be the second Geo4Lib sprint – see the blog post from last year's event! If you'd like to be involved in planning, please reach out to Karen Majewicz.

A group of folks also expressed interest in participating in a smaller-scale sprint this winter focused specifically on GeoBlacklight development, with potential topics including preparing documentation for GBL v.5 and roadmapping future GBL versions to support the latest Blacklight releases.

I volunteered to coordinate the schedule for a winter GeoBlacklight sprint. If you'd like to participate, please add your name and availability to this spreadsheet by Thursday, December 18, so we can nail down a date.

Best,
Becky

Hello Geo4Lib!

Thanks to everyone who shared their availability for a winter GeoBlacklight sprint! Please mark your calendars for January 26-30, 2026 with daily standups on Zoom at 1pm Eastern. I've added the standups to the Geo4Lib events calendar, which you can subscribe to for ease.

If you're planning on participating, consider also attending the next Geo4Lib Community Meeting on Wednesday, January 14 at 2pm Eastern – we'll likely chat about goals for the sprint during that meeting.

I'll be back in touch in mid-January with more information about the sprint. Until then, please feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas.

Best wishes for a restful winter break!
Becky
