Ecovillage activities in China

Dear Tongxin, Don, Carly and Jerone,

Hope you are doing well. I'm writing to all of you to bring your attention to some of the ecovillage activities happening in China. I attach a presentation which paints a good picture of what is happening there.

Tongxin and Don - I would like to introduce you to Carly and Jerone, who are pod facilitators for GENOA.

Carly is facilitating GENOA Blue, which is the communications pod. She will be able to support you to get your stories on to the website and FB.

Gerone is facilitating GENOA Red, which is the participation pod. She will be able to document all the ecovillage projects and communities in China into our database.

Carly and Jerone will be in touch with you shortly about communications and participation.

If you can also please let us know who is the best contact person for China. Someone who is in contact with all your members and can share stories when they come up?

Thanks so much for sharing this presentation - it is enormously helpful in understanding the wealth of activities present in China!

Tongxin and Don, nice to e-meet you.

As I'm new to the space of GENOA, I would love to talk with you both about your projects and the network. Specifically:

How can GENOA best support your projects?

What (if anything) would you like to communicate with the world through GENOA?
How can you best see your communities supporting GENOA?

These will all help inform making our communications work well for the members, as GENOA moves into a new chapter of its identity.

And yes, please do let us know if there is one contact person who is in touch with all the others!

Hi dear all,

Thank you for introducing dear Trudy.

Nice to meet you, Carly and Jerone! It is good to know that you are our new members and working for GENOA, to assist members be involved and collaborate deeper in this big family.

I think every community or ecovillage of China is eager and happy to share their updates or new projects on GENOA/GEN platforms. One way is that they can share them through the guides that Carly shared in the latest mail, another is we need one person to collect and share them together. For now the country rep is Don, but he seems quite busy working on many projects and I don't think that he have enough time to do it. For me, I cannot make commitment to be a full "connecter" as I am not a country rep any more, and our unique values and special history could make me not acceptable by some people.

So my suggestion is that I can share the channels to people who'd like to share, then they can do it by themselves. If they have any questions or need any help, they can ask me or connect Carly for further guide. I will also be happy to share new activities, meetings, gatherings, or any important updates of GENOA with these communities/ecovillages here in China.

How can GENOA best support your projects?

----As our special history on community development, we have stopped online promotion nationally and internationally for over 1.5 years. That's because of the Chinese policy and society system does not treat intentional community like us as open as other regions.GENOA knows about our story from the beginning, and we are open on the community values and operation mode since the community is established, we hope that GENOA members can understand, and always support us with their spirit and soul.

What (if anything) would you like to communicate with the world through GENOA?

---- Once the online communication to the world recovers, we'd like to share our project updates through GENOA website, FB pages, private sharing, and be involved in the gathering again. We would also welcome any friends from GENOA to visit us, and are quite open to "members exchange" with other communities of GENOA and GEN.

How can you best see your communities supporting GENOA?

--- Once the right timing comes, we will be very open to welcome visits from GENOA members, from GEN members, or international community studiers, practitioners etc. We will also support GENOA activities within our capacity.

We will also support GEN China members to be involved in GENOA and GEN more deeply and frequently, try to be the bridge when they need to communicate and interact with the world.

GEN China is just in shaping, I'll try to contact these projects contacts, and share the channels that they can communicate with GENOA and GEN.
