GEORGE MCLAURIN (1894-1968), the first black man admitted to the University of Oklahoma in 1948, was forced to sit in a corner far from his white classmates.
Despite the sabotage, McLaurin’s name remains on the honor roll as one of the three best students of the university.
These are his words:
"Some colleagues would look at me like I was an animal, no one would give me a word, the teachers seemed like they were not even there for me, nor did they always take my questions when I asked. But I devoted myself so much that afterwards, they began to look for me to give them explanations and to clear their questions."
Don't worry about your current situation, be determined to make a difference with a loud Success"
When God honours you, witches and wizards will stay clear."
While working on his studies, he appealed to the Supreme Court by saying that these conditions impaired his ability to learn. The court finally agreed in a 1950 ruling, which annulled segregation at the graduate level.
The George McLaurin Male Leadership Conference is named after him.
LESSON: Forcing yourself to be accepted by people is a waste of time. Just focus and add value to yourself and people shall come seeking your help..
