I am trying to merge records from different websites. I just installed the latest version of GEDitCOM II. Is this something that I did incorrectly?

Hi Bill,

Quite a few users have had that problem in the past. If you search for 'foundation' in the GEDitCOM II Discussions on Google Groups, you'll find more information about it.
I'm pasting below what John wrote in a previous message, more than one year ago. If you need more help, I'm sure a more 'GEDitCOM-II-savvy' user will come to your help. In the meantime, that should put you on the right track.

For help on getting Foundation module installed, see GEDitCOM II help — click “Extensions” in index on the left and than click “Extensions” again on the right. See the section on “Installing Python When Needed.” It explains how to fix “No module name Foundation” error.

Best,
Stéphane

Yes, Stephane had the right place to look for install instructions. The challenge is Apple seems to keep changing its mind how where it wants command line tools like python installed. So far, I have been able to install the Foundation module on every MacOS since it was not already there by default. I think key is to install the same place that python3 is installed. You can find that out by typing "which python3" into the Terminal app.

Regards,
John

I think that I installed it in about 3 different places but it did finally work.

Thanks!
