Hi everyone,

I'm very happy to announce that Geb 1.0 has finally landed in Maven Central.

Other than the removal of a number of methods deprecated in the last couple of releases, this version is only slightly different from 0.13.1 down to a couple of bug fixes and improvements.

A full list of changes is as usual available from the Book of Geb: http://www.gebish.org/manual/current/#1-0

Cheers,
Marcin

Yeah!

I personally use Geb heavily at work. And I love it.

Thanks a lot to Marcin and the other contributors for the work you put into the project.

Congratulations Marcin, and thanks for doing such a great job in continuing to improve and evolve Geb. It’s comforting to know that the project I started and spent so much time on is in such good hands.

Onward and upward.

Thanks Luke. Given that you left Geb well founded with regards to tests and documentation and thanks to maybe not the biggest but very loyal user base working on it has always been a blast.

Hello Marcin,
Why there is no backward compatibility support with geb 1.0 ?
Just curious to know...
since the deprecated methods for module and modulist are removed.

Hi Pooja,

The deprecated, loosely typed methods for creating modules and module lists have been deprecated in 0.12.0 which was released in July 2015. These deprecations and respective replacement methods have been mentioned in the changelog: http://www.gebish.org/manual/1.0/#deprecations-2. I believe that given all that a reasonable upgrade path has been provided for these methods and therefore it was not unfair that they got removed.

Note that Geb follows semantic versioning (http://semver.org/) and the removal of deprecated methods in the 1.0 release is provided for in items 4 (http://semver.org/#spec-item-4) and 5 (http://semver.org/#spec-item-5) of semantic versioning specification.

Cheers,
Marcin
