Hello All.

Tried to connect my SCX-3405FW but in failed to register.

Couple words about my enviroment:
Printer is connected to Asus WL-520GC Wireless Router via Wi-Fi.

I login to the web-interface of the printer and try to register it to GCP but it fails to register with error code -87 or -94.

When I try to test connection to GCP it fails too,

But a couple of times its passed connection test ok and even told that printer is registered to GCP. There was a short link to confirm registration. Told me that the printer is added to my printers list but it is never appeared there.

What I've already done to solve this issue:

1.Updated printer FW to the latest version - nothing changed.

2. Tried to expose printer IP as a DMZ host in my Asus Wireless Router settings in case router is blocks something. - nothing changed.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

You could try to do network memory clear ("Restore default" item in "Network settings")
Also, you need to check DNS settings...

I would like to know what is the meaning of that two error codes. Who exactly generates them, GCP or printer itself? May be I should talk to Samsung Support?

Maybe this is due to the HTTP to HTTPS changeover and Samsung's firmware isn't doing it right? Are there any other cloud-ready printers affected?

That change should only have affected print job submission/download, registration shouldn't be affected.

I have the same error on a Samsung M2022W. I have spoken extensively to Samsung support, but they cannot explain the error and suggested I return the printer to my supplier - hopeless! Every other aspect of the printer is functioning correctly. Did you ever fix the problem?
Thanks

I suspect this is an environmental issue, although I haven't used this particular printer model. These error codes are not being generated by Google Cloud Print.

In order to eliminate your environment as a potential issue, if you have Chrome installed, go into advanced settings and select Connect Printers under Google Cloud Print. You can then attempt to register a "local" printer, meaning, any printer that you have installed locally on your system. If that works successfully and you can print to your printer using Cloud Print, then you have effectively proved that your environment should allow all of the needed traffic through to enable Cloud Print. The only exception would be if your network was using a proxy or filter, that had different rules for the Chrome browser than other types of clients/traffic.

In general, we require HTTP(s) traffic, as well as XMPP over port 5222.

Once this is done, the printer will show up in the Cloud Print Mgt page, and will use the system Chrome is running on as a print server. This effectively proxies Cloud Print traffic to and from the local printing system. Note that the Chrome Connector was created for legacy printers that do not talk directly to Google Cloud Print.

I hope this helps.

Well this is interesting.
I added my "Legacy" Local Printers as google cloud printers as you sugested. I could print to them through the cloud great.

I then went to set-up the "cloud-ready" samsung printer - received the dreaded -94 error as before, however...all my google cloud printers are now marked as offline and will not print.

So trying to connect the new printer seemingly broke all the other GCP printers.

Further to that - restarting chrome makes the legacy printers work again.

Samsung has taken a look at this issue and acknowledged the issue. Some info has been lost in the translation to English, but here some info:

  • Register the printer using Google Cloud Print.
  • Delete the printer from Google Cloud Print.
  • Reboot the printer.
  • Upon boot up, attempting to register with Google Cloud Print will replicate this issue.
  • Work Around:
    • After boot up, wait 10 minutes
    • After this time period, you should be able to register with Google Cloud Print.
  • Alternative Work Around:
    • Perform a printer network or memory reset (clear), and that allow for registration with Google Cloud Print.
Samsung said they eventually provide a patch for a long term solution.

Let me know if these suggestions help.

STILL NOT FIXED

Just bought this unit yesterday and since trying setup google cloud, not only do I get error 94, but the whole unit freezes as soon as I try to change settings.
Tried the firmware update but same problem still exists.
The ONLY reason I bought this unit over the BROTHER was that this was supposed to be "cloud ready". In fact it is completely opposite.
Taking this printer back tonight and getting the brother.

I am currently on the phone with Samsung Technical Support (1-800-726-7864) in hopes of being able to get more information on this issue.

I am trying to connect a Samsung Printer Xpress M2825DW "Cloud-Ready" Laser Printer to Google Cloud Print. I am experiencing the Error Code -94 (Registration Failed).

The initial Support Tech I was speaking to at first insisted that Error Code -94 was a Windows Error Code, so I hopped on a Mac on the other side of my office, and received the same error code. He then looked into the issue a little further and then concluded  that this is an issue on Google's side and is not an issue on Samsung's side. As someone who has successfully set up and used HP and Brother printers with GCP, I am skeptical of this. I have just now asked the tech to forward me to their Executive Support Team.

I was using this exact printer model, the M2825DW over the last 2 weeks without issue. I successfully printed over 100 print jobs, and tried to make it fail in all kinds of bad ways. When you click on the Test Connection button, do the connections look ok? I'm really curious what might be causing this error, as my suspicion is something peculiar in the network configuration.

@kdLucas - All items succeed when clicking the "Test Connection" button. This is a failure and error code that has appeared in two locations: In a home environment (connected Printer<>Router<>Modem; Printer<>Switch<>Modem; Printer<>Modem) where all tests Succeeded, and at my work (connected through the domain/on the primary network as well as on a DMZ network) where all tests Succeeded.

Followup: After speaking with the Executive Support person, I was assured that this issue will be looked into again for all printers, and I also passed along this Google Discussions thread for review. She's going to have me ship (free of charge) the printer to one of their service depots for further testing and review as well.

Fortunately I had an HP Cloud Ready Printer (HP LaserJet m401dw) I could hand over to my boss (the Samsung is actually his printer) which historically has worked flawlessly with Google Cloud Print.

Well, I'm relieved I'm not the only one.  My issue is the same as the above - purchased the Samsung Xpress M2825DW a few weeks ago, Cloud Print setup was a snap, printed 60+ pages over the last week or so.  Suddenly as of yesterday, Friday, Cloud Print was dead.  All prints showed up as Queued.  Logging into the printer via SyncThru now suddenly showed Google Print as not registered with the same errors everyone else has been seeing.  I've also seen error -93 and -86, I believe.

I have done a full printer settings default reset/removal and software uninstall/reinstall, as well as a firmware reinstall.  I have also tried connecting the printer directly to my network via ethernet with the same static IP in the hopes there was some kind of sleep or keep-alive issue going on.

Printer always and still works just fine when printing directly from my primary machine (outside of Google Print).  I have also done the temporary workaround of setting it up like a "classic" printer through Google Cloud Print via Chrome, which also works absolutely fine when shared devices print through Google Cloud (of course assuming the primary PC is on).  So the problem appears to be entirely within the printer firmware.  Like others above, my connection test through SyncThru "sometimes" passes and sometimes does not.  Whether it passes or not, registration now always fails with one several error codes; I've probably seen all of the ones mentioned so far at one time or another.  Really frustrated with Samsung right now, I don't see how it could be anything but an issue with their printer and its supposed cloud readiness.

I am pretty sure the issue is not located on the printer side.
I bought my C460FW in september and Google cloud print worked like a charm since then.
I do not know when the connection broke, but as I didn't changed the firmware since the last time I used the client d to print, I think something changed on the Google or Samsung servers that prevents the printers to register.
Another point is that the tutorial to use Google cloud print has disappeared from Samsung website. The link located on the official Google cloud print website is dead... I hope they didn't unilaterally decided to remove this functionality'

I have a hard time believing it's not a problem with the printer itself.  You're right in that my firmware as well has not been updated (I flashed it to see if something had been corrupted, but no change and the version was the same), so it seems like nothing has changed on the printer side.  However, I do not believe that the data between the printer and Google actually passes through Samsung servers (so I don't believe Samsung would be able to stop the printers from registering), and it seems that the error messages in question are not generated by Cloud Print either.  We also know that these same printers DO work correctly when they're setup up with Google Cloud Print as "classic printers" (mine works fine that way), which means we know our local environments are allowing the data to pass through that's needed to make it work.  I also know that when I use the "test connection" feature in SyncThru, that the printer can hit the Google domains successfully.  I also know that after this happened, my Google Cloud Print page still showed the printer as active, even though SyncThru suddenly said it was no longer registered.  So Google was still able to actively hit my printer and know it was online, so some level of communication was occurring, and Google still thought all was well.  So all of that to me says it was the printer itself that must have somehow lost the registration functionality.

Could it be just some kind of latent glitch or bug within the Samsung SyncThru software that develops over time, perhaps after a certain number of prints or certain amount of data passed through or something within the print data causing a corruption?  It's reaching, but the local environment is the same as it was.  Is there a possibility that flashing to an older version of SyncThru could produce a theoretical fix?  I'm on 3.00.01.20 OCT-04-2013, should we compare SyncThru versions to see if we're all on the same?

Also, I found a link on the Samsung site showing Google Print setup: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/howtoguide/N0000443/9741/113696.  Maybe they had just moved it.

Posting to register this happened to my printer on the exact same day as you. We've had a M2875FW since June last year which has been working okay until last week when it started spitting out random non-ASCII characters.

It wasn't until Friday (11th April, 4pm GMT+00) afternoon, however, that the registration/connection tests started failing with error code -96.

As others reported, classic printing via GCP works fine.

@jmaze - I was in the same boat as you in contemplating the uselessness of Samsung Tech Support, that's why I asked to be forwarded to their Executive Support Group (which is who I was forwarded to after I kept insisting I be forwarded to someone who might be able to honestly take time looking into this issue). It's probably a coincidence, but maybe it isn't, that @kdLucas announced just 3 days after I spoke with Samsung's ESG that Samsung and Google have isolated the cause of the issue and are actively working on a fix.

At my company, we predominantly use HP ePrint-supported printers (which integrates painlessly with Google Cloud Print) and I highly recommend them (we mostly have HP LaserJet M401DW printers, but also a couple M401DNs).

That is good info, but this is not is solution for some one on a Managed Wifi network in a school district. If Samsung wants to sell us printers for our 9000 Chromebooks this needs to work, other wise there is no reason to switch to whole new printer company.

Samsung has a fix in place, but now it's a question of how soon they can get them rolled out so that users can get the firmware updates. I think the new firmware will need to go through formal QA so it might be some time before it is released.

Yep same problem here but with a twist....

I have a Samsung CLP415N which has been a fab printer and initially it worked absolutely fine with cloud... However about a month ago it deregistered and now i just get all sorts of random error codes on the printers web page and Google says is offline.... This is also the case on a friends Samsung laser printer....

Starting to get very annoyed with them. The odd thing though is that it did initially work so i think that Google has changed something that has upset some cloud printers....

I will be watching closely for a firmware update....

I have exactly the same experience with a Samsung CLX-4195FW Laser.

Cloud print was always a bit flakey but it did work up until a couple of weeks ago. Then it de-registered and now it wont register properly, it appears in the Cloud Print page as registered but offline. On the printer webpage I get the following error..

Processing Failed with error code -76

Looking forward to the new firmware!

Same problem with Samsung m2022w. Can register without problems but it's always offline and can't use it. I tried to use it in Cloud with chrome and it works.... But not stand alone.
I tried a lot of network changes like port forwarding, dmz, DNS, mtu... Nothing. I think something is changed in protocol, something samsung didn't care about or something Google changed and Samsung has to fix.... I hope quick, fortunately in meanwhile I can use samsung Android app for printing

Samsung wrote me on May 1:

Thank you for contacting Samsung. I understand you are experiencing issue with Google Cloud Printing on the Samsungprinter SL-M2825DW. It is an issue with the Google Cloud Print 2.0 update being released by Google. Some models may show offline due to Google rolling out the new Google Cloud Print 2.0 update. This changes how the printer registers and "handshakes" with the server. This is affecting all printer manufacturers, and should be resolved by Google within the next few days.

One thing you may need to do, is after performing a firmware update on the Samsung printers, then open the printer's IP address with a browser, log in as admin, select Settings --> Network Settings --> Restore Default. Then restart the printer. I did see this behavior on a few printers where I needed to Restore Default before it started working correctly.

Firmware for SCX-3405W is out: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCX-3405W/XAC#firmware

...but I can't install it.

1. Printer is connected via WiFi connection
2. From archive I use SCX3405W_V3.00.02.02_GCP.exe
3. Updater successfully find printer
4. Using Authentication with correct password
5. Upgrade finished with no message
6. After few minutes I visited printer's SyncThru WebService page but it says that printer is still on firmware V3.00.01.19     MAY-06-2013

So I try upload firmware by hand using SyncThru WebService page...
7. Updater keeps firmware file in your %TEMP% folder (c:\Users\DiGi\AppData\Local\Temp\SCX3405W_V3.00.02.02_0401040_1.00.hd in my case)
8. I used SyncThru WebService - Maintenance -> Firmware Upgrade -> "Upgrade wizard"
9. Upload SCX3405W_V3.00.02.02_0401040_1.00.hd
10. Website says: Invalid Firmware

What I've already done to solve this issue:

1.Updated printer FW to the latest version - nothing changed.

I just did this procedure and it is working really well

1. Download the FW package
2. Unzip it
3. Run the ummm firmware updator that is NOT the newest firmware, it gets you to 3.0.1.0.199 or something
4. Run the updator to get to the newest firmware with GCP update, this is not through SyncThru but there are actually 2 updator packages that are in the zip file
5. enjoy

OK, I have to use SCX3405W_Patch.exe patch first and after then SCX3405W_V3.00.02.02_GCP.exe.

My printer previous version was 3.0.1.19 (not 3.0.1.99) - maybe because that.

After installing patch printer goes crazy (leds were flashing, SyncThru says 0% toler...) - but... SyncThru works fine so I tried upgrade and after successful upgrade to 3.0.2 printer goes back to normal work.

It still doesn't work. At first I wasn't able to unregister the printer via Samsung SyncThru (error code -93) though it wasn't listed on the Google Cloud Print site. Then I reset the printer settings to the default ones. All tests were successful afterwards, so I retried registering the printer which succeeded (SyncThru reports "Printer registered", meanwhile in combination with error code -93). But Google Cloud Print always lists the printer as "offline", the tests (button) report an error contacting the Google.com serverr. There is still no new firmware for the CLP-775ND available.

Any ideas left?

It seems to be a never-ending story. I bought a Samsung CLX-6260ND a week ago and, after some difficulties, managed to register it with Google Cloud Print. From then on it cloud-printed very nicely for about 5 days, then, out of the blue, a print job and all subsequent ones were stuck in the Google Cloud Print job queue. There were multiple attempts to print, always unsuccessful.

I tried most things mentioned here and eventually deleted the printer from Google Cloud Print, all to no avail. When trying to unregister the printer with its SyncThru web site, I usually ended up with error -71.

After reading this discussion I found that the firmware in the printer was from January 2014, so I looked for a newer issue and found one, of August 2014. I installed it, and now the messages and errors are a bit more nicely worded ("Incomplete response received from server"), but I have still been unable to register the printer in Google Cloud Print.

Thanks for reporting!

At least you are getting farther than me. I have deleted the printer in
Google Cloud Print and then tried to deregister it from the printer.
That has never worked so far.

Perhaps we have two different defects here---one on Google's side that
prevents all printing and one in the printers that prevent setup when
the printer thinks it is registered, but it was deleted in Google Cloud
Print.

But we may first have to wait until Google fixes their Cloud Print, then
we will know more. It's a mess. I am pondering the thought of returning
my new printer, to be on the safe side. I had just bought it.
