Hello everyone,
I am currently having an issue with using Google Cloud Print with a Brother printer, and I was wondering if any experienced users or developers might help me troubleshoot this possible bug.
Situation:
I startup my Chromebook and navigate to Gmail where I find an email with an attached PDF.
I click on the PDF and bring up Chrome's print dialog.
I choose to "change" my selected printer to my desired printer.
I select "Print" and it creates a Print Job through Google Cloud Print.
On the Brother MFC J4510DW printer, the screen shows that it is "Receiving Data", but after 5-7 seconds, it automatically cancels the print job and Google Cloud Print shows and "Error" for the Print Job.
Issue:
Brother Printer cancels the print before the print job begins.
Steps Taken:
- Restarted the printer
- Renewed the printer's IP address
- Set the IP address to "Static"
- Reregistered the printer through Google Cloud Print
- Updated the printer's firmware
- Sent Brother's support for assistance, but their troubleshooting tips didn't fix the issue.
Other Comments:
I do notice that when I click on the PDF that is attached in the email, it previews the PDF in color.
However, when I click the print icon it brings up Chrome's print dialog that previews it in Black and White.
I wondered if the fact that Chrome seems to be forcing the PDF to print in Black and White is clashing against how the Brother printer is handling the incoming PDF data.
I am able to print the PDF attachment only if I download it as a PDF and then print it, but there is still no option to choose Black and White/Color and the PDF prints in color even though the preview still shows it as a black and white version.
Thank you so much for your time. I understand this may be a bit complicated, but I'm very grateful for any and all assistance given on this matter.
Thanks,
Thomas
