Will Dan Mullen survive?

Now we are at the "fire the assistants" phase. Can Mullen make this work? 
He has to not only address the problems on the field but also the 900lb Gorilla in the room which is how to recruit better talent.
Personally, I would like him to succeed but I'm also nearly ready to move on.
Your thoughts?

I wonder how much of his recruiting issues are related to his not being able to recruit personally due to those last rules violations...

I am ready to move on.

I did not enjoy watching Mullen's offenses when we had NFL talent and won national titles.

I especially do not enjoy watching it now.

The one interesting season on offense was when injuries forced him to use Trask and a pro-style offense. 

Good lord. How is one so in love of a running QB scheme that you start Feliepe Franks over Kyle Trask? Over and over again?

My best hope is that whatever assistant coach that called the plays for Trask is made our OC and that Kitna’s kid knows how to throw the ball.

The question is: if we fire Mullen who do we get? Is there a better coach out there who will actually leave his current team and come to Florida?

Get Bob Stoops out of retirement.  Otherwise Mark Stoops or the dude from Cincinatti.  Or my brother Frank.  He’s better than Mullen.

This is a very informative, nuanced take from a non UF fan that is worth your time in my opinion. Definitely had me thinking about things differently

Thanks for posting this. I found it to be informed, rational and sane. I hope Mullen can solve the recruiting deficits and can get a top notch DC. I was not a fan of the Mullen hire but I very much want him to be successful. One thing we don’t need is a frequent cycle of firing/hiring head coaches.
