Good day friends,
I’m popping into your inbox with a big theatre hug and an invitation.
My husband and I are getting ready to open August Wilson’s Fences at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, and we would truly love for you to come see it with this absolutely fabulous cast in an absolutely beautiful theatre. There is a Black theatre art display on the third level, as well as a library nook and artifacts from the previous lives of the building on the second floor, an interesting and meaningful look around before curtain.
This production is part of the August Wilson Century Cycle taking place across Maryland, and it has been incredibly meaningful to be inside this work. The language is rich, the humanity is deep, and it is the kind of storytelling that reminds you why we do theatre in the first place.
I especially want to highlight this Thursday night’s performance as Black Out Night, a celebration and gathering intended to center Black audiences, Black stories, and community. Tickets for Black Out Night are discounted to 25 dollars, making it a wonderful and accessible night to join us.
For all other performances, we have a little actor love to share. Use discount code FRIENDLY20 for 20 percent off regular adult tickets.
