Howdy – I have one of the original Gallery 3.0.1 – yes, it still works but I have to hold PhP at 7.4- the login wont work unless I drop back to 7.0 I think it was – but images still host – this gallery is VERY Important in that it hosts ALL our 3D club images for 3D world -

my question is – do I need to update it in phases – I don’t remember now how many upgrades have been since the 3.0.1 version – is there a list I can go by to upgrade each version or can I upgrade to the version after & then upgrade to current – ir do I have to upgrade each version until it hits current version ?

this is the link to the gallery in question   https://sbgallery.freebyrdsadvertising.net/index.php/  you WILL get warning but it’s because the hP is out dated – another reason I need to fix it & my server provider is starting to charge xtra for PhP not above 8. Something

/thanks in advance for any advice

I do use my own installer I built myself that has the features we need for utherverse & saddlebags image hosting

Harley,

Oh my... you haven't been keeping up with the times. The last official version of Gallery was 3.0.9 in 2012-- hopefully that is the version you are currently running. You can check by logging in as admin and look near the top of the first page where there should be a notice which version you are using. If you are *not* running Gallery 3.0.9 then you must upgrade to 3.0.9 before you can proceed onto later versions.

If you need it, you can still download 3.0.9 from:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/gallery/

Once version 3.0.9 is running to your satisfaction (with any customized script tweaks you require) you can the move up to the "current" version of Gallery. You see, the the original Gallery development team disbanded in 2013 after the release of 3.0.9  and there were no further updates until a few years ago when Brad Dutton, a member of this group,  put together a version called 3.1.1 (the "revival" version) which will run under newer versions of PHP. The current version of the "revival" is 3.1.5 and the best place to get it is from is Brad's website at:

https://galleryrevival.com/

IMPORTANT NOTE: To transfer everything over from your old Gallery 3.0.9 installation to the "revival" you must to be running version 3.0.9 under PHP 5.6 when you do upgrade to 3.1.5  to ensure a good transfer.  Once you have 3.1.5 running properly under PHP 5.6 you can change your server to PHP 7.4  and up  and test all operations. I suggest starting with PHP 7.4  to determine if the upgrade was completely successful and everything is working as it should before switching the server to PHP 8 because some people have reported a few issues running Gallery with PHP higher than 8.2

There is more information on all this at:

Yes; it's running  version 3.0.9 with grey dragon - not a whole lot of modifications just xtra file & image size uploads

i found it right after the project went into hibernation and was able to save a TON of the modules but lost one of my computers and most were on it's hard drive (currently still there)  - i still have a bunch though and the greydragon; the html module i think it was you that fixed ? - i saw someone describe the gallery as a tank long time ago - sbgallery proves that statement true - i think i found it in 2013/14 - saved what i could at the time & built my own lite version - i'd like to add the video feature but none of mine have the  FFmpeg added - my PhP is too low for one thing

i think the mistake i made last time was i only dropped to PhP 6.4 i'll drop it to 5.6 this time - i'll be putting server into maintenance mode whie i fix it - keep you updated - might record the process so others can see how it goes

Thanks
