Don Pan (named after the Venezuelan bakery where it meets) is the fastest training ride in Southern Florida.  The course consist of 12 miles laps on the Causeway connecting South Miami and Key Biscayne.

This ride occurs 3 times per week and has been doing so for the past 40 years.  This is an A plus rated ride that attracts riders from all over the world in the Winter months.

Watch this 200 plus rider Peloton blow off multiple attempts by the Miami-Dade Police to pull them over.  Police pullover attempt begins at 4:50 minutes into the video.

This video is brought to you by world famous velo videographer Lucas Brunell.  He is largely known for POV filming of Alley Cat races in New York City.

Enjoy!

That Causeway has been filled with 100's of cyclist throughout the day, every day for decades.  The Village of Key Biscayne see's the value that Cycling Tourism brings to the area. (Their motels are filled with Cyclists throughout the Winter) And for that reason the Key Biscayne Police Department has long history of looking the other way as the Don Pan Ride runs thru anything and everything that's not blocking the road.  However, yesterday (2/22/2026) a Miami-Dade Sheriff was on the Causeway and decided to pull the Peloton over.

As stated previously, the Don Pan Ride occurs 3 days per week and is filmed by 5-6 riders who are equipped with Fore and Aft and 360 degree cameras.  Below is a link to Eddy Alveraz's Don Pan Videos YouTube channel.  Last Friday's video is the One Lap Sprint version of the Don Pan Ride which finishes on the approach to South Miami.  The sprint finishes are usually over 42 mph and are covered with Slow Motion Finish Line Cam.

Enjoy!

Just watched Lucas Brunell's video of today's Don Pan Ride (One Lap Sprint).  The Peloton blew by 2 Miami-Dade Sheriff vehicles and a Cross-Walk constable displaying a Stop placard with no problem.

After watching dozens of Don Pan Videos, the Police incident that occurred last Sunday appeared to be a rare occasion of Selective Enforcement.  Historically, the Peloton effectively owns Key Biscayne Causeway as it would take a dozen or so Sheriff cars plus a Paddy Wagon to stop and arrest 200 riders.  And then they would have to do it all over again 3 times per week/52 weeks per year.

I would love to go down there to ride for a week but from what I've seen, the motels are expensive as hell this time of year ($350 per night an up).

Retro out.
