These folks are bouncing.

Alan Klier
Gail M Giclas

If anyone knows their current email, I can fix it on the list.

Otherwise, will delete them in a week or two.

Best wishes,

Keith

PS. If you have any stories from those days, please write them up, or
record them or something.

I was not there but would like to see a write up of the body recovery
where my cable ladder was used. I wonder if there are write-ups of
what SARA did in those long ago days?

Dear friends of Anita & Tom,

We are just a few days shy of the 5th anniversary of Tom's passing, on February 28, 2013. I just wanted to mention that, so that we all can take time to remember this dear and fine man.

Here is the obit that UA posted, and which also appeared in the AZ Daily Star: https://uaatwork.arizona.edu/lqp/memoriam-thomas-p-harlan

And of course we greatly miss Anita too. What a wonderful duo they were.

Tom

Indeed they were.  I knew them since their son (Thomas) was about two weeks old.  For some reason they were at the Druid Student Center, 1189 East Speedway.

Oh my that was a long time ago.

Annita had many tallents, but her most significant influence on me was editing the "Space Farm" paper   It was posted on this group in 2014 by Thomas Harlan.  That paper led directly to the formation of the L5 Society and all, for better or for worse, that followed.

As you say, they were wonderful people.

Thanks, Tom, for sending this reminder. Annita and Tom became such a dear friends—we met when I took her Desert Plants and then Plant Physiology courses at the U of A during my tenure as a Landscape Architecture grad student. We then (Jonathan and I) began to go out with her and Tom to browse and photograph spring wildflowers, and had other delights of outdoor excursions, stimulating conversations. Annita’s take-home final exam for Plant Physiology was memorable, something along the lines of: “Design a desert plant. Illustrate and describe the relevant energy cycles we’ve learned in class”. It took many many hours, but I can still picture that odd-looking thing in my mind (she liked it, but questioned the energy budget).

I treasure the memory of Tom’s generosity. One day in Sonoita, they had come out to the house for something, and he noticed how wobbly our dining chairs were, insisted to take them home to repair… a couple of weeks later we had sturdy chairs. I’m not sure I have any other friends throughout life who would take so much time out of their schedule to do something like that. Makes me glow and smile to remember it—one more detail within an inspiring and motivating legacy of open-heartedness.

All best,
Cynthia (Lunine)
