Hello Qian. You removed snippet about ECL performance:

CLISP), Clozure CL and GCL the second (about 3 times slower than
SBCL), then ECL (about 7 times slower than SBCL) and CLISP is the
slowest one. Note: very old versions of ECL were much (about 4 times)
-slower, versions from about 7-10 years ago gave best performance and
-newest ECL versions are progressively slower.
+slower.

Some computation work much faster on 64-bit machines, especially
when using SBCL.

Any reason to do this?

It is just that "7-10 years ago" is not accurate, change it to
release version will be much better.

It is reasonably accurate and will be for next 2 years. Certainly
_much_ more accurate than what you commited.

BTW: On more general level, things should be replaced by better
things and removed only when removal leads to improvement.
