Hi all,

Is there appetite for virtual FPLLL Days/Lattice Developer Days?

Format idea: We “meet” in a chatroom (Slack, Zulip, Matrix, whatever) for, say, two days and coordinate what bugs to fix, what features to implement, with a quick turnaround time in the chat for help. People can then also use ad-hoc video links + screen sharing to help each other out or present their progress.

Dates: Two days at the end of October or at the beginning of November? For me, after the PKC deadline would be good.

Cheers,
Martin

That looks interesting to me.

The proposed dates are good to me.

Hi Fplll-Devel,

How does everybody feel about:

19 and 20 November

for the (Un)Bounded Distance Development Virtual FPLLL Days?

I’m thinking: a Zulip chat, a hello/roll call in the morning, fixing tickets, implementing features.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I will add it on my calendar!
I just have one question.
Are we supposed to register somewhere at some point in order to participate?

Best,
Manos

Hi there,

I’ll send round a link for registration/sign-up closer to the event. I don’t think we need formal registration, we just need to decide on a chat platform to interact etc.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi all,

I’ve created

https://fplll-days-6.zulipchat.com/

Please sign up there if you want to take part at FPLLL Days 6.

I’ve also created

https://github.com/fplll/fplll/wiki/Virtual-FPLLL-Days-6-aka-Bounded-Distance-Development

please add your name there if you’re planning on attending.

I think it’s a good idea to have a quick video roll call at some point during the day. Just for everybody to introduce themselves and to break the ice. The rest can then happen via chat.

To be the big question is what time that should take place. How is 10:00 Lyon time, 9:00 London time? This just about allows people in China to take part at then end of their working day. But it excludes people on US time zones.

Cheers,
Martin

PS: For the afterparty we can use https://github.com/capnmidnight/Calla

Hi there,

Based on https://github.com/fplll/fplll/wiki/Virtual-FPLLL-Days-6-aka-Bounded-Distance-Development

1/ I suggest we do a roll call style call on

Thursday, at

- 9:00 London time
- 10:00 Amsterdam time
- 17:00 Beijing time

just for everybody to say “hi”. If there are no objections I’d post a link where to meet on the Zulip.

2/ Shall we also have a “social event” on Friday European evening? I’ve had great success drinking beers over https://www.calla.chat/. Others have pitched https://blog.mozilla.org/firefox/virtual-halloween-mozilla-hubs/ for this. We’re going to give it a try in our department this week.
