This is really a good topic area that all members of the SAWAP countries have the opportunity to exchange Idea on how the best method to disseminate best practice so that countries can apply to their specific country level wherever possible.

As far as the Ethiopian Sustainable Land Management Program is concerned,

1. the communication channel used for the disseminating best practice are through our SLM website http://www.slmethiopia.info.et/index.php/slm-knowledge/best-practices

2.the functional approach corresponding to each communication channel we used:

The project, together with  directorate and other partners in the Ministry of Agriculture have established "Best practice Task Force" that define screening criteria and steps on documentation process to disseminate that technology as "Best practices". and adopting the WOCAT system in to EthioCAT, so that the project is in the process of incorporating in the website as one part MENU.

3. how does each channel contribute to disseminate the best practices?:

Normally the regional and district experts select and send their "Best Practice" technology at National level Task force, then screened out based on the criteria set before,then, the documentation process will follow. for this each the experts will contribute their specialization in this process

4.What approach do you use to get access to disseminate channel?

In the so far as of our approach, the government is taking the role of disseminating the best practices in it's government structure. what is expected from the projects like Us, identify, screen and accurately document the proposed Best practices based on Argo-climatic condition and other factors.

The online discussion which is starting this Tuesday 2^nd February, 2016 ends on 7^th February, 2016. It gives the opportunity to debate on current communication methods for disseminating best practices in sustainable land and water management.

 

Though it is not the only means for spreading information on new resource management practices, communication may on one hand play a key role in the way new practices are perceived by target populations while being critical in the acceptance, experimentation and adoption of new practices on the other.

 

The debate aims at identifying the various aspects of communication used for the dissemination of best practices.

 

To this end, we thank you in advance for your answers to the following questions:

1- What are the communication channels used for the dissemination of best practices?

2- What are the functional approaches corresponding to each communication channel used? 

3- How does each channel contribute to the dissemination of best practices?

4- What approaches do you use to get access to dissemination channels?

La discussion en ligne, qui débute ce mardi 2 février 2016 prend fin le 7 février 2016. Elle vise à débattre sur des méthodes actuelles de communication pour la diffusion des bonnes pratiques en gestion durable des terres et des eaux.

 

Sans être le seul moyen de faire connaître des informations relatives à de nouvelles pratiques de gestion des ressources, la communication peut, d’une part jouer un rôle déterminant dans la façon dont les nouvelles pratiques sont perçues par les populations cibles et, d’autre part être déterminante dans le processus d'acceptation, d'expérimentation et l'adoption des nouvelles pratiques.

 

Le débat cherche à identifier les différents aspects de la communication utilisée dans le cadre de la diffusion des bonnes pratiques.

 

A cet effet, nous vous remercions par avance pour vos réponses aux questions suivantes :

1- Quels sont les canaux de communication utilisés pour la diffusion des bonnes pratiques ?

2- Quelles sont les approches fonctionnelles correspondant à chaque canal de communication utilisé ? 

3- Comment chaque canal contribue-t-il à la diffusion des bonnes pratiques ?

4- Quelles approches utilisez-vous pour accéder aux canaux de diffusion ?

Thank you for the comment.

We have already uploaded Six best practices as an example in our website ,i.e. Micro pond technology, Loose stone check-dam, Compost making tech. Area closure, labour sharing and  community mobilization etc.so, participants of the forum can visit the link attached in my previous e-mail.

I will come with ideas when the next discussion "communication approach in terms of follow up to the adoption of best practices" starts.
