Hello

In our study we have 70 participants who rate the others in a round-robin-design. Therefore we present them pictures of the other participants.
In the googledoc "all_widgets" I have seen, that pictures will paste with a URL-address. Is formr in the position to access on a password-protected server if we specify the password?

I´m not sure if I explained it well, that´s why I´m explaining it in German too.

I hope anyone can help me!

Thanks!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

is your study happening in a lab or at a participant's home/computer?

To quote from the page where you can upload images:
We do not prevent users from sharing the links with others. If your users see an image/video, there is no way of preventing them from re-sharing it, if you're not looking over their shoulders.
Users can always take a photo of the screen, even if you could prevent screenshots. Hence, we saw no point in generating single-use links for the images (so that users can't share the picture directly). Please be aware of this and don't use formr to show confidential information in an un-supervised setting. However, because the links are large random numbers, it's fairly safe to use formr to upload confidential information to be shown in the lab, the images cannot be discovered by people who don't have access to the study.

So, if it's in a lab, the long random links work like a password. If it's not, don't do it (or get the appropriate consent).
If your worry is about uploading the images to formr.org vs. somewhere else: yeah, you could upload them to password-protected server (eg http-auth), but you would have to give your users the password (probably via formr?). So I don't see the point.

Best,

Ruben

Hi Ruben,

thank you for your quick answer!
The study is happening at the participants computer, but if it´s possible to upload the images on the formr server there would be no problem with the consent.
It would be nice if you could explain me how to upload the images on the formr-server because in the google doc "all widgets" the images were uploaded somewhere else e.g. Wikipedia and the link was copied and pasted in the survey spreadsheet.

Thanks!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

go to your run overview. On the left side there is a heading: Configuration. below it: upload files.
It'll look like this:Screen Shot 2017-08-09 at 13.01.09.png

Best,

Ruben
