Regardless of zearching by ZIP or name, it will either show endless loading circle or "an error has occurred".

For one, I'm surprised it produced a result for you because it still gives me the same two conditions as previously noted.

Also... 07008 is in New York, USA, so the result you received is wildly innaccurate. 🫨

I suspect that this is what you're looking for, given that it returns a 503 error.

Oops, I forgot to provide the URL. In this specific case:

Additionally, going back again to copy this URL produced a 403 error instead.

And this is what is produced when I navigate to the URL.

The URL you provided opens without any problems for me.
It seems that there may be some issue with your internet provider  :(

Could it be that you are using some browser extensions that block access to this URL?
Perhaps these are privacy-related extensions that hide the User-Agent and/or something else?

Does the URL open to this? Because I do sometimes get this if I open either your or my URL, yet the search still does not work.

Additionally, as mentioned by Francisco Pataro in the thread they posted just a moment ago, FireFox does indeed work just fine. It appears to only affect Chrome - which, given Google's tumultuous history with this extension, might actually be the source of the issue to begin with.

Additionally, I do not use any extensions that block the user agent, no. I do use uBlock Origin Lite as well as Privacy Badger as my only privacy-related extensions, but disabling either of those does not change the resulting error.

Forecastfox uses the open project OpenStreetMap to search for cities.
Please check how this site works for you:
https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/ui/search.html
This site uses the same API as Forecastfox.

Sorry, but I cannot reproduce the error.
When I search for "MILWAUKEE," it finds three locations for me.

I, too, am still having this issue in Chrome and Chrome only. I don't use any proxy or VPN, so it cannot be an ISP problem, given it does work in Firefox on the same computer/network, no tunneling in operation. I still think it's a Chrome-caused problem. Thankfully, I was able to at least export the settings from the Firefox extension and import them to the Chrome extension as a workaround to load my locations.

As for using the source website directly in Chrome, it loads the result without issue.

And proof the same extension function still works on Firefox, but still not Chrome:
