Hi there,

New to Flutter but currently have a lot of Native Android apps in the field, using Admob mediation (Admob and Facebook ads)

I see there are widgets for Admob, but do they support showing mediated ads from Facebook?

Do adapters need to be added to the Android app section?

Thanks

The firebase_admob package is the recommended plugin for AdMob ads. It's maintained by folks at Google and supports fixed-position banners, interstitials, and rewarded video.

It should support mediation, though it's not something that's been tested much in the field (I'd be interested to hear about your experience if you give it a try). The basic steps for implementing mediation would be:

* Implement your desired ad format using the plugin, just as you would for AdMob alone.
* Open the `/android` subproject in your Flutter app's codebase and:
  - Add the mediated ad network's SDK and adapter (guides here).
  - Update any manifest settings or other files required by the mediated network.
* Build your app and it should work.

Thanks Andrew (big fan of your videos btw)

I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Flutter is going great so far, I'm rewriting apps that have millions of downloads from Google Play. The problem is my iPhone version are not up to scratch. With Flutter they can be in synch, so I'm hopeful it will have been worth the learning curve.

One more question. I recently updated my Android native apps to use adaptive banners. Will the flutter widget support this?

Thx.

It's on our list of things to do, but no one's had time yet. It should just be a change to the AdSize class and AdSizeType enum. If you're at all interested in contributing back to the community, that feature would be a great way to do it. :)

Great idea. I'll take a look at it.

Also, regarding earnings. Will there be any difference in the earnings from a Flutter app and a Native app?  Does AdMob put any higher value on native apps over Flutter apps? Do they even know what kind of app is using the ad?

I don't believe the presence of Flutter in an app would, on its own, affect CPMs one way or another. At the end of the day, AdMob is a market, and if I were an advertiser, I don't think I'd care that much about the particular technology being used in the apps displaying my ads.

Take that with a grain of salt, though. I never worked on the server side of AdMob. :)
