Hi,

My android release APK size built using Flutter is around 275MB due solely to a large number of image and video assets.
I would like to upload this APK to the Google Play store but there appears to be an APK size limit of 100MB.

In Android app development you can create APK expansion files to work around this problem (link).

I don't see any native flutter or plugin support for using expansion files and am wondering what my options are?

One of the selling points of my application is that it does not require an internet connection to work once downloaded.

Regards,

Ben.

Hello Ben,

I am currently working on a Flutter plugin for Expansion files.
I'll notify you once it is ready (in the coming days).

Great thanks for that.

Will your plugin be cross-platform or will  I have to figure out how to bundle in the assets for iOS and then use expansion plugin for Android?

Hello,

This plugin will only work with Android and the expansion files (= the Google Play).

I'm very interested in a plugin for this.  I also have an app with a 100MB+ video asset.
Have you been able to make progress on this?

Thank you,
Phil

Are you generating apk to be used outside the play store or uploading it to the console?
