Hello Fluids Educators,

Seeing if there will be a critical number of DFD members that might be able to convince conference planners to dedicate one of the education/outreach sessions this new format: https://dfd-meeting.aps.org/attendees-presenters/dfd-interact; seems better suited than the end-of-day or Tuesday afternoon timeslots that are often given to the education topics. I always loved how rich the discussions have been when there has been some interactive opportunities between audience members. The lightning talks would further enable the attendees to self-select into pedagogies and modalities that align with their institution. Wanted to get this out into discussion early before the abstract submission deadline in a couple of weeks.

Regards, Nick

I would like to try the new format for the education session. I have two students entering abstracts for the education session.

Thanks for bringing this up, Nicholas. I’m going to give a talk on OER (Open Educational Resources) that would benefit from discussion. I’ll note my interest in the Interact format in my submission notes. I do worry a bit that my talk will get lost in a sea of other talks, as can happen at large poster sessions.

And everyone, I’m compiling a list of OER  for the talk. If you have an OER you’d like me to include, please let me know!
