Is there a way to add a new field to the interlinear gloss views? We would like to use freeform notes to annotate particular words for analytical features (e.g. dialect, questions, suspect transcriptions, etc). (This is part of a class so we don't want to just add every guessed stem to the dictionary, that will cause havoc.)
Thanks for your help!

Yes. First you'll have to go to the interlinear text pane and then click on the Tools option on the top. There you will get diferent options, click on 'Configure', then click on 'Custom fields' and there you will have the option to create a new line for the interlinear text gloss view with the title you wish. Once you create the new custom field, click on 'tools' > 'configure' > interlinear text, and the custom field you created should be displayed in the list of options you can add. Remember that you have to be on the interlinear text pane to create a dedicated custom field for it.

Best wishes,
Gabriel.

That's what I assumed, but I have no option to select custom fields for the interlinear view (only for the lexicon view).

What comes to my mind is that this feature was added in FLEx 9, so I think it is not available in previous versions. What version of FLEx are you running?
Another option for displaying fields of your interes is to create a new writing system with the name of the characteristics you want. Then you go to configure>interlinear text>select gloss and specify the writing system you created. However, this implies that you will need to insert the gloss for this writing system for every single item in you lexicon and it will be displayed in columns as normal glosses.
If you want an option to write notes or dialect remarks more freely, then you need the custom field feature because it is displayed in the same format as free translation is in interlinear texts.

It is new in FLEx 9. You could use note or tagging to do something similar. The Tagging could be edited and then tag words or phrases.
