Dear All,

Our flex project has three writing systems - IPA, roman and devanagari. We are contemplating to have the export output of different writing systems separately.

For example,
Our project has  all the devanagari fields ( and only devanagari) will put together in a bunch with no IPA and Roman fields in this bunch. Similarly, all Roman fields (only Roman fields i.e. analysis language English) together in a bunch. And IPA fields together in a bunch. There could be possibility of mixing some IPA fields with Roman as both are based on Latin and appear quite similar.

What format do you want the export to be in?  Are you exporting as a configured dictionary, or just the fields?  Do you want a single file that has all the writing systems, or could you export a different file for each?

For each kind of export, there are different ways to configure what writing systems are included, so the instructions depend on which export method you are using.

Hi Beth,

Sorry for the late reply. I got message from my colleague recently whose requirements I shared in the thread earlier.

The answers to your questions are as follows:

1. We will be exporting as a configured dictionary. We also have pictures and sound files. I suppose we can add pictures to the Publishable dictionary whereas both pictures and sounds to e-dictionary version and Web-version of the dictionary. As of now our requirement is of a single file that has all the writing system in which in an entry all English fields (clubbed with IPA) will come first and then all Hindi fields.

(For e-dictionary dictionary, I prefer to export Full Lexicon in LIFT 0.13 XML. Then I open it in Lexique Pro. The issues with the file so used in LP is that it does not show part of speech (grammatical category) in both Hindi and English. It only shows English parts of speech. The same is the case with semantic domains, it shows only English and not Hindi semantic domains.

Another limitation of the LP is we can not put all English together separately from the Hindi data).

I hope I could make my views clear. Please let me know of any information.

regards

mayank

Mayank,

Lexique Pro is not maintained by our group at this time. We will take that on later this year.

I'll put your issue on the list to look into.

Hello Mayank,

Is this a FLEX problem or a Lexique Pro problem?
Are the parts of speach and semantic domains in all three languages in the LIFT file ?
If no, you need a solution for FLEX, if yes, you need a solution for Lexipe Pro.
Have a good day,

Carin.

Hello Paul and Carin,

Thanks for the reply.

Actually I attempted to put up my problem as FLEx problem. My requirement is that I would like to have all English and IPA fields together separately from all Hindi fields (which will be together themselves). My query was to how to achieve it in a configured dictionary. We would like to have it in all the outputs, if possible (printable form, web-version and e-dictionary).

I mentioned LP because it is what usually I use to get result of the FLEx lexicon. BUT I would love to know if there is any OTHER way to get the desired result in other export processes of FLEx.
