Suggestion was made .. who wants to help decide this matter?  I'll give this a week with a reminder or two to hear from the fleet.

PLEASE RESPOND
Got the email
and pick one:  D or W or T

Don't care, decision makers can consider and execute without further coms
Want to be in the decider committee
Please draw up a Tentative decision and email the fleet again

In any event will email the fleet with final status.

Is there even a fleet anymore?  I still see a bunch of boats in the yard, but as far as I know, only a few people still sail the V15s and then not frequently.  I’m definitely not using mine frequently.

I’d say unless there are going to be organized Fleet 76 events again, it doesn’t seem like there’s much need for a chase/safety boat.

FYI, the BYC’s hard whaler and outboard was stolen from in front of the BYC last month.  They might have some use for Big Red if they ever get their sailing programs going again.

So all of that is a long way of saying I’m probably a “T” given the choices outlined below.

Agree with Nick we should ask BYC if they want BR.

Agree with previous comments.  I don't feel that Fleet will regroup.  I am fine sailing solo on the occasional weekend.  The BYC still has an active youth sail program and could use the asset(s) after the recent theft of the Boston Whaler and Trailer.  I personally never considered a return on any financial contributions I made to the Fleet over the years.  I'm ok donating to the club if they are willing to receive it.  I am happy to assist in brokering that conversation as well.

I'm happy to hand it over to BYC Glad they already have title.

Who would care to execute on this?

Hi Everyone - It's been a very long time since I used this distribution.  I hope you are all well.

There are (5) V15's remaining in the boat yard at the end of 5th street.  If the staff at the boatyard doesn't know the owner or disposition of the boat they will be considered "derelict" and be treated like the other un-used boats.

I am not affiliated with the boatyard, just sending a notice that boats are at risk in that yard.  I honestly do not know if the other V15's were picked up by the owners or given away.  I would relocate your boat or it may be relocated for you.

Be well and be safe,

Rich

Hi Chris:

Mine’s long gone too.

However, I do still see Vanguard-ish-looking masts sticking up in the back there when I drive by.

Hi Everyone-
I moved my V-15 out of the yard about a year ago.

Hope all is well.

I was thinking about this same thing when I bicycled by there yesterday morning.  The intention for our use of the yard was for those that were regularly using their boats on Friday nights, not for long term storage.  As soon as I stopped sailing regularly, I moved mine to my side yard.  I've since sold it and bought a motorboat.  Go figure.

Hola to all,

I sold mine to a pilot in Seattle who bought it as a birthday gift for his wife’s 60th!

When it was picked up from my front yard and hauled away, I think I teared up - miss this sailing days.

Warm Regards,

Jorge V. Castaneda

Hello all,
With seeing all the boats get repurposed for new use and some still in the yard, I just wanted to echo Jorge  that I too miss those days. I am neither sailing nor swimming! Thanks to everyone for so many fun times.

@Jorge - in my first summer living outside Seattle I saw a 10+ boat VG fleet on Lake Washington just below the bridge by University of Washington. They had a nice course set up but clearly did not have to factor in the current we did in Benicia.

Living in Washington state has been terrific.

All the best!
Jeff

Oh man, I have to stop reading these.  See, I moved away nearly 12 years ago, and I still have this warm happy feeling imagining you all (I still can't say ya'll) still out there on Friday nights.  Please just tell me you're still doing it.
