Hello all,

is there any work (or even plans) to port FireSim forward to more recent FPGA
boards than the AMD/Xilinx U250/U280 (which are both deprecated) for
on-premise use, such as the AMD/Xilinx Versal series? The current V80 board is
the spiritual successor to U280, again  combining a large FPGA with on-chip HBM.

Best,

I am not sure about the firesim main developers, But I surely plan on adding support for V80.  As soon as I can afford to buy V80 :).  For FireAxe, I think V80 should give very good performance as it has 800 Gb QSPF bandwidth.

but, there is no advantage for HBM memory for firesim use case (for U280 / V80). What you would need is an extra DDR4 (like U250).

Another aspect is F2 instances, which also have bigger FPGAs and (I think) 128 GB DDR4.

Excellent!

I concur, that would be our use-case as well.

We are interested in HBM not so much for performance (as we will be using FASED anyway), but for the many parallel accesses it would give us.

Good point, I had not noticed F2 yet.

If at any point you need testers for Fire(Sim|Axe) on V80, give us a ping :-)

Best,
  Andreas
