Firefox 24.0
Firebug 1.12.0
FirePath 0.97

One of these must of automatically updated and now using Firebug is impossible.

Upon starting F/Fox I get the chance to Inspect Element but trying to change ANY option i.e. CSS/Dom and the whole panel freezes with none of the options available, I have tried resetting but then Inspect Element even stops working.

Restarting F/Fox will again give me the chance to Inspect one element before freezing, this also means that FirePath which I hevaily rely on for Automation Testing is unusable.

Any workarounds or fixes out there?

Your Firebug version doesn't seem up-to-date. Please download the latest version 1.12.4. Does it make any difference?
I can't reproduce this problem using FF 24.0 + FB 1.12.4 + FP 0.97 on Win8.1.

Can you tell the steps you do to see that problem? Do you still have that problem when you create a new Firefox profile and just install Firebug and FirePath?
