Hello,

From a couple of days ago(hum, maybe a month ago?)..anyway, suddenly my Firefox sooo slows to start...finally, I figured out and caught the suspect...That was FireBug.

Here is simple info.

OS : Win7
FireFox v42.
Firebug 2.0.13

1. Enabled Firebug.

Measured time ..Start Firefox........it took 90 seconds to load.

2. Disabled Firebug

Measured time..Start Firefox ......it took 4 seconds to load.

I don't think I have this issue previously....I guess it must be caused by something that Firebug updated lately???

Anyone?

Thanks,

For me it starts immediately, i.e. in one or two seconds, on a system with the same configuration (Win7, FF 42.0, FB 2.0.13), regardless whether Firebug is enabled or disabled.

I suggest you follow the steps described in the first aid page. Please post here again once you've done that.

I even removed my firefox completely(all of my profiles too), and reinstalled...
Then I installed the firebug. This is only one extension installed.

Same behavior.

Whatever reason, if firebug installed and enabled, then firefox darn slows to load...so strange...hum

Firebug's footprint on browser startup is pretty small. From what I remember it only adds the start button and menu entries and watches the tabs for whether it needs to be activated or not.
So I wonder what could cause this. Does this also happen when you reset Firebug's options (with Firebug open click the Firebug menu > Options > Reset All Firebug Options)?

Like I said, I guess I've tried all of possible things to fix this issue.....nothing works...
One another thing I noticed..... In Firebug, when I clicked "about", it is darn hanging for some reason...then not responding....then shows dialog box....
What does Firebug do internally when clicking "about"?..Isn't that just showing simply a dialog box?
It is really strange...I don't remember exactly when this issue happened...but not that long ago...probably a couple of weeks ago..

I still cannot reproduce this, and I've tried that on three different machines.

You mentioned earlier that you've uninstalled and deleted your profiles and reinstalled Firefox. Though have you also tried creating a new Firefox profile using the Firefox Profile Manager? See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles.
If it's still slow with a new profile, your issue may be related to some plugin or third party software.

What happens if you install an older version of Firebug (e.g. 2.0.12 or 2.0.11)?

1.
What I was asking is that it is correct behavior to show up the dialog after taking so darn long time???
How come not showing up the about dialog box right away? Once I clicked it, then it shows not responding ..then after about 5 minutes ..then shows the dialog box..
What makes it showing up even simple dialog box so taking long time??

2. Again, what third party plugin are you talking about? I have a fresh installation of firefox..I have a new profile...I haven't installed any 3rd party stuff on top of firefox.

I really hate to say this...but if behavior persists, then it is time to say good bye to firebug. I know this is sad though.

As I have never seen this, I can't tell you why.

Press Ctrl+Shift+A and then click on Plugins. There you'll see which plugins are currently installed for Firefox.

Did you try the new Firefox profile as I wrote before?

Note that as another Firebug user I am just trying to help you to find the cause of your problem.
Though if you can't get it to work, you may try out the Firefox DevTools instead.

Just a thought... really just a wild guess... do you by any chance have Firefox set to load a custom home page when it launches, or when it creates a new window or tab? Say, a custom home page that contains or links to some JavaScript?
