Script panel won't stop splitting itself

In Firebug 1.12.8, sometimes when I'm debugging (stepping through code starting from a single breakpoint I've set), I want the Script panel to remain the full width of my second monitor the whole time. In other words, currently I do not want to see the Watch, Stack, or Breakpoints panels at all. Right now there's nothing I need in there -- I know where my one breakpoint is, and I have no Watches set up, etc. I just want to see the full width of the Scripts panel, spanning the entire monitor, through the entire process.

However, every time I click one of the stepping buttons (Step Into, Step Over, or Step Out), or use my keyboard shortcuts for them, Firebug vertically splits the panel -- forcing me to click the little triangle button (to the right of the stepping buttons) again with every step in order to get the full-width Script panel back. This is extremely annoying, and I can't find a preference item for this behavior. How can I stop the panel from splitting every time I advance one line?

It's even more annoying because there's a limit to how much Firebug lets me adjust the centerpoint of the split panel -- it would let me wipe out almost the entire Scripts area on the left (the part I want), but for some reason won't let me drag the centerline very far to the right at all.

Please tell me there's a preference item that I'm not aware of, to turn off this auto-toggling of the split panel.
