Hi,

I'm new to Firebase and I'm building a progressive web app for learning purpose. I'm wondering whether Firebase Hacker news API does support push notification on topics/comments/replies etc. I tried lot of googling out, but couldn't find any examples.

Any examples would be really great if there is a support for the same.

Hello Anto,

According to the Hackernews docs, you can use the client libraries to access the API using the Realtime Database, which will push realtime updates to your apps or websites, but I don't think you could get SMS notifications if that's what you mean.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Yes, I could see that when I use the Firebase client API, I could able to get the real time notifications. But what I want is or what I'm trying to achieve here is to build a progressive web app, which gives a push notification. I believe push notification is supported by https://firebase.google.com/docs/cloud-messaging/. I'm just wondering how one could achieve FCM on top of hacker news API. I couldn't find any examples for the same.

Thanks for your time on this.
